      Beaches

We are located just one kilometre from sandy beaches of Saint Michel en Gréve and St Efflam (a 20 minute walk through lanes and woods) and just 15 minutes from beautiful beaches of Tréburden, Trégastel, Locquirec and Perros-Guirec. For those who would prefer wearing nothing, there is a naturist beach called Plage de Beg-Leguer near Tréburden. Coat Aillis is the ideal location for family holidays, the full French experience without hours of driving from the ferry ports. Ideally situated for sight seeing the Pink Granite Coast we are only 35 minutes from the port of Roscoff and two hours from St. Malo.

The pink Granite Coast

Brittany is the prow of France, jutting into the Atlantic Ocean it has some of the best scenery around. The pink granite coastline offers an infinite variety of landscape - rocky headlands, tall cliffs, secluded coves, fine sheltered harbors, countless islands and wide sandy beaches. Resort towns with stately granite villas alternate with charming fishing villages of modest whitewashed houses. Tremendous tides recede hundreds of yards, laying bare broad beaches, oyster beds and immense mud flats.
For people interested in out of season holidays the coastline is magnificent to walk we have also five different walks from the gites ranging from an easy half hour to a two hour hike through beautiful countryside and woods. The local beach at St Efflam has an excellent water sports centre where you can hire dinghies, sand yachts or try your hand at wind surfing. Tennis and horse riding are within 5 minutes drive. For the real French flavour we recommend Lannion market which is every Thursday morning and Plestin market which is every Sunday morning.

Chateigner Restaurant in Plouégat-Guerrand

Le Mao Restaurant in Ploumanac'h

There is no shortage of superb restaurants in the Côtes-d'Armor .
Meals here will highlight the many local delicacies and abundance of fresh seafood, shellfish above all - lobster, langostines, mussels, oysters, clams and scallops. Local cheeses, artichokes, early potatoes, lamb and crepes have also helped make Breton cuisine famous. The favorite local beverages come from the orchards rather than vineyards. Cider is produced everywhere, along with its pear equivalent and the well known Norman Calvados (a potent apple brandy). Of particular note (and value) are restaurants in Locquirec (5 mins), Ploumanac'h (nr Perros-Guirec - 20 mins away) and or and lunch time eating at the "Chateigner" restaurant in nearby Plouégat-Guerrand (10 mins away) where a five course meal costs just £6 per person, probably the best value meal anywhere!
